David and the Gospel Week 6!!!Article Dated : Sunday, 21 Feb 2010 02:04 Base : YWAM Newcastle - The Youth Street Base Returning from Thursday night evangelism we reflect on a powerful eye opening week of amazing lectures, authoritative stories, potent outreach, fun and loving intercession and a bbq/worship family time with 180 brothers and sisters from other YWAM bases from all around Australia. Evangelism week. A man named David Pearce walked in with black dread locks past his shoulders and a face that both inspired respect but was filled with such kindness you wanted to go hang out with him and give him a big hug. As an early 20 year old David was called to the punks and anarchists of Amsterdam. To show them Gods love in honest and creative ways he started a punk theatre band that has since played at some of the toughest satanist and anarchist clubs in Europe and South America. This man had stories that would make your jaw drop and then make you want to jump up on the desk and yell “I want to go to there!!!” He spoke to us of his heart for people and his struggle with trusting God in the face of physical violence and how God is trustworthy and ultimately powerful. He regaled us with biblical truth and had us praying and thinking deeply about this amazing love we have been given and our responsibility to share it. We ended the week with a day of evangelism and intercession for the YWAM medical ship that has come into port. Our school is getting excited. We spent the second half of the week just doing evangelism. Going into the streets and shopping centre’s of Newcastle and sharing our overflowing love. A book I’ve been reading this week really opened my eyes to some beautiful truth. The beginning of the book of Ephesians speaks about how God created us for community. He created us FOR adoption into his triune family, and to be blessed by every treasure in heaven. This picture of Gods heart for humanity must excite us into spewing love. Profusely.
