We live in a world where slavery is all too commonplace.  The crime of human trafficking occurs not only in the shadows but also in plain sight. The Primer is an opportunity for you to acquire new abolitionist tactics to combat modern-day slavery.

Only by rethinking advocacy through the scope of Smart Activism and Open-Source Activism and by equipping ourselves, can a movement with lasting effect take hold, creating holistic change in our world.

The Abolitionist Academy Primer will consist of central plenary sessions and four tracks. Participants choose a topic that they would like to partake in, and follow that track throughout the three-day academy.

Track topics include:

*Free2Work: Everyday we unwittingly perpetuate the crime of human trafficking by purchasing goods that are made using forced labor. Learn how you can help eradicate modern-day slavery by researching company supply-chains and how changing your purchasing habits can free people around the globe.

*Abolitionist Faith Network: Learn why faith communities are integral in the fight against modern-day slavery and how by joining the Abolitionist Faith Network, you can help set the captives free.

*Slavery Mapping: Learn how to identify and document public cases of modern-day slavery by examining the anatomy of several different cases. Explore how to work with fellow abolitionists to eradicate slavery in your own backyards.

*Entrepreneurial Business: Two billion people in the world live on less than $2/day, leaving people vulnerable to exploitation. Fighting modern-day slavery requires an economic solution. The Entrepreneurial track will teach you how to harness your skills to bring sustainable economic solutions to combat modern-day slavery's economic roots.
